The Town of Caledon, with grant support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), has successfully completed the upgrade of the Mayfield Recreation Complex’s arena on schedule and within budget.

“We were able to complete this revitalization as a result of the generous support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and the efforts of our Town staff, our consultant Barry Bryan Associates and general contractor Schilthuis Construction”, said Mayor Allan Thompson. “I’m very excited for residents and clubs who can use this facility again for minor hockey and skating.”

General Manager, Community Services, Peggy Tollett explained the significant work that was undertaken. “We were able to replace the old concrete floor, upgrade arena boards, refrigeration system, glass, and make railing and accessibility improvements. This was possible with the $500,000 grant that we received from OTF through the Ontario150 Community Capital Program, along with a matched contribution from the Town.

The arena is now aesthetically pleasing and modern, and the renovation has extended the useful life of the facility. Residents, groups and clubs are invited to visit the arena. The Town has 10 recreation facilities with programs and activities for all ages. To learn more about these various programs, visit: www.Caledon.ca.
