Education Minister Stephen Lecce criticized the “Critical Race Theory” as inappropriate and divisive. In response the Toronto District School Board has issued a guide to address the issue. The guide offers a critique of the existing educational system, condemning it for favoring the dominant culture and characterizing it as a ‘colonial structure.’ However, the TDSB goes beyond criticism, presenting a roadmap for progress. It urges educators to act as catalysts for decolonization and to interact with students in a manner that respects their identity groups.
