Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, within the shortest time compared to her competitors prepared and ran the most effective campaign of Liberal Leadership and won. This was the first time when members elected the leaders directly unlike the previous campaigns. In past the local associations used the organize elections to choose delegates to send them to represent the ridings and elect the leaders.
