Mississauga is truly enriched by the diversity of our residents who each day work to make our city an even more welcoming and compassionate place to call home, Mayor Bonnie Crombie said today.

“I want to single out our local Vietnamese community for their unwavering commitment to take part in the 2017 Mayor’s Citywide Food Drive #OneBagChallenge and for collecting 10,660 pounds of food,” Mayor Crombie added.

“All of us from the Vietnamese community are honoured about the opportunity to participate in Mayor Crombie’s annual city wide Thanksgiving Food Drive campaign. The food drive brings people together and it reminds us to remember others in our city who are less fortunate and in need of help. We are happy to contribute to Mayor Crombie’s vision for the city to ensure that no one goes hungry,” said Julia Le, Co- Chair, Canadian Vietnamese Network.

Mayor Crombie would like to extend an invitation to you to join us for the 2017 Mayor’s Citywide Food Drive campaign wrap and results announcement today – Wednesday, October 18th at 4:00 PM.

This year’s campaign goals were to raise $125,000 and 225,000 pounds of food from September 16 – October 13. Achieving these goals would make it the Mississauga Food Bank’s biggest Thanksgiving ever.
