The City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Office has been identified as one of Canada’s top 10 economic development groups by Site Selection magazine. The recognition is based on April 2016 to March 2017 project data.

“Mississauga’s economy continues to grow, prosper and thrive. Our ongoing business development efforts and foreign-direct investment missions continue to market Mississauga to the world and attract new economic development opportunities to our city,” Mayor Bonnie Crombie said. “This top 10 ranking is further proof that start-ups, national and world-class businesses continue to choose Mississauga to invest, expand service offerings, remain ahead of the competition and achieve success,” Mayor Crombie added.

Specific criteria used in the selection process include:

  • The number of new facilities and expansions per capita
  • Project capital investment per capita
  • Job creation per capita
  • Subjective analyses of website resources, programming and outreach efforts

“I’m proud to lead a great team of professionals that work towards the development of our business community to strengthen and grow our economy,” said Susan Amring, Director, Economic Development. “Being named as one of the top Canadian economic development groups will help develop Mississauga’s national profile for excellence in economic development and bring more businesses to the city.”
