Calling all sports fans! The City of Brampton is proud to announce that it has been selected as a host community for the 2017/18 season of Rogers Hometown Hockey.

 
On Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11, residents and visitors are invited to Garden Square, downtown Brampton, for a weekend of family-friendly, free programming and hockey festivities. Join Ron MacLean and Tara Slone on March 11 at 6 pm for the live pregame broadcast, and don’t miss the outdoor viewing party at 7 pm when the Calgary Flames, including hometown player Sean Monahan, face-off against the New York Islanders.
 
As part of the 2016-2018 Strategic Plan, the City is dedicated to building vibrant urban centres that ignite opportunity and instill​ pride in the people who live and work here. Hosting Hometown Hockey will garner significant national exposure for Brampton, and will engage the city’s sport and resident communities through this high quality, exciting event.

  • Hometown Hockey will visit 24 communities across Canada from October to April for the 2017/18 season.
  • The tour is an integral part of the NHL’s presence in Canada and, as such, is a nationally-recognized television event viewed by approximately 500,000 to 1 million people.
  • Tour elements include, but are not limited to, activities, contests, NHL alumni autograph signings, giveaways and concerts.
  • Brampton’s downtown is unique and a vibrant destination in the heart of the city with Garden Square being the venue of many colourful programs and events. Garden Square is home to free entertainment all year long.
